Mechanical Design Engineer

6 month contract

Rate: GBP38.00 – GBP42.00p/h

Responsibilities

• 3D modelling in SolidWorks – designing enclosure modifications, bespoke brackets, manifolds and internal component layouts
• Supporting, updating and maintaining existing 3D models and engineering drawings
• Finalising and issuing manufacturing drawings to the required standard
• Defining and applying appropriate tolerances across all designed components
• Attending weekly cross‑functional project meetings with project managers and technical leads
• Daily catch‑ups with the mechanical team lead to review workload and progress

Qualifications

• Solid, hands‑on SolidWorks experience used in a real working environment
• Familiarity with assemblies and a mix of commercial off‑the‑shelf and bespoke parts
• Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings
• Background in mechanical design or draughting – degree qualified ideally, though strong experience will be considered
• PDM experience desirable but not essential – full training provided
