Requirements
- We are looking for someone with genuine experience managing Kubernetes in production, ideally including migrations from VMware, oVirt, or similar platforms.
- We value experience with Kubernetes cluster lifecycle management, including building, upgrading, and operating production clusters.
- Experience with Talos Linux as a Kubernetes-native OS would be particularly valuable.
- Experience with Cilium for container networking and network policy would be particularly valuable.
- Experience with rook-ceph for cloud-native storage within Kubernetes would be particularly valuable.
- Experience with BGP networking in a Kubernetes or data centre context would be particularly valuable.
- Experience with Rancher for cluster management and multi-cluster operations would be particularly valuable.
- Experience migrating workloads from hypervisors such as VMware vSphere, oVirt/RHV, or similar to Kubernetes, including re-platforming stateful services, would be particularly valuable.
- We would also value experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in CentOS/RHEL environments.
- Experience with Ansible and Terraform for infrastructure automation is desirable.
- Experience with AWS services such as EC2, VPC, ALB/NLB, and related services is desirable.
- Experience with Victoria Metrics and Logs, Icinga, or similar monitoring and observability tooling is desirable.
- Experience with RADIUS is desirable.
- Experience with web servers and load balancers such as Apache, Nginx, and HAProxy is desirable.
- Experience with Splunk and Git is desirable.
- Scripting experience in shell and Python is desirable.
- Bonus experience includes CI/CD with GitLab, RPM packaging, databases such as PostgreSQL, and systems design.
Responsibilities
- We will have you play a central role in migrating production workloads from hypervisor-based infrastructure such as VMware and oVirt to Kubernetes, using tools such as Talos, Cilium, and rook-ceph.
- We will have you design and implement Kubernetes-native infrastructure that is production-ready, resilient, and maintainable.
- We will have you contribute to disaster recovery and high availability planning for services running across the new platform.
- We will have you improve developer workflows and support software delivery and automation initiatives.
- We will have you mentor technical colleagues and act as an escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
- We will have you collaborate with other technical staff to produce clear, useful documentation, including runbooks and migration guides.
- We will have you maintain system security and contribute to System Acceptance and Compliance policies.
- We will have you proactively identify and deliver improvements to our systems and processes.
