Front Desk Representative

General Summary Of Duties

Duties include greeting patients, performing check‑in procedures, maintaining demographic and insurance information in the computer and in the chart, servicing patients in the lobby, and providing backup for phone and other front‑office duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients
  • Performing check‑in procedures
  • Maintaining current demographic and insurance information in the computer and in the chart
  • Performing office opening procedures, petty cash balancing, co‑pay/co‑insurance collection, and assisting patients as needed
  • Servicing patients in the lobby and providing backup for phones and other front‑office personnel

Requirements

  • High School Diploma with 1–2 years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures
  • Proficiency with computer systems and programs
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to multi‑task
  • Demonstrated compassion and kindness toward patients
  • Professional and upbeat attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and customer‑relations ability
  • Ability to work effectively with medical staff, management, authorization departments, external agencies, and patients
  • Capability to sit, stand, and move in a normal office environment
  • Comfortable working in a busy office with frequent patient contact
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend work
