Overview

Seymour Transport is seeking dedicated HGV C+E Drivers to join our team. We are currently looking to recruit drivers to work within our general haulage or construction haulage departments. As a reputable family‑run organisation and leader in the construction haulage sector, we pride ourselves on providing excellent service and fostering a positive work environment for all employees. Home base can be at any of the following locations: Caldicot, Maidstone, Sittingbourne, Lichfield or Barnsley.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and drive Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) according to the C+E license requirements.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods to various destinations, adhering to the schedule and route plans.
  • Conduct pre‑use and post‑use inspections of the vehicle to identify and address any maintenance or safety issues in accordance with the DVSA standards.
  • Load and unload freight in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, including delivery notes, logbooks, and any other relevant documentation (most of which will be captured by electronic devices).
  • Maintain effective communication with the dispatch team and customers to provide updates on delivery status.
  • Follow all traffic laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Represent Hicks Logistics professionally, always demonstrating excellent customer service and keeping trucks in a clean and professional state.

Home base: Caldicot, Maidstone, Sittingbourne, Lichfield or Barnsley. Part‑time. Start date: As soon as possible.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Valid HGV C+E license.
  • Ability to take on newly qualified drivers.
  • Good knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain professional relationships with clients and team members.
  • Ability to handle physical aspects of the job, including load security and potential tail lift requirements.
  • MOL or Pump out training available.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing high‑quality service.
  • Flexible working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
