Primary Cover Supervisor – Full‑Time & Part‑Time Opportunities

Location: Leicestershire

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30 (School Hours)

Role

As a Primary Cover Supervisor you will supervise classes during the short‑term absence of teaching staff, ensuring pupils remain engaged with the work that has been set. You will maintain a positive learning environment, manage classroom behaviour, and support pupils throughout the school day.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during the short‑term absence of teaching staff.
• Deliver pre‑planned lessons and ensure pupils complete the work provided.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
• Create a positive, safe and engaging learning environment.
• Encourage pupils to participate and remain focused throughout lessons.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil engagement and behaviour.
• Support the wider school community where required.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working with primary school‑aged children.
• Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or within a similar school‑based role (desirable).
• QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or a PGCE (desirable).
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Confidence leading a class independently.
• Positive, flexible and professional approach.
• Ability to work school hours, Monday to Friday, 08:30‑15:30.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service desirable, or willingness to obtain one.
