Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team and help shape the future of our pharmacy services at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals. This role focuses on providing high-quality, patient-centred care on the wards, ensuring accurate medication reconciliation, and supporting the efficient practice of one-stop dispensing.

Responsibilities

  • Take drug histories and conduct medicines reconciliation to ensure accurate medication administration from the start of hospital stay.
  • Ensure appropriate use of Patients Own Medication and promote one-stop dispensing.
  • Manage the dispensing of To Take Out (TTO) medications timely to support smooth patient discharges.
  • Communicate effectively with community healthcare partners to provide a consistent continuum of care.
  • Participate in audit and financial savings projects and manage medicines on the ward in liaison with pharmacy leadership.
  • Provide checking services as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT); schedule regular checking slots in the dispensary.
  • Participate in late duty, bank holiday and weekend rota as part of a seven-day service.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with General Pharmaceutical Council accreditation.
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT).
  • Post-qualification UK hospital experience.
  • Patient counselling experience.
  • Strong multidisciplinary teamwork and effective written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Desirable: Accreditation in Medicines Management (AIMM).

St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group serves a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. The sites include St George’s Hospital, St Helier Hospital and Epsom Hospital.

Occasional cross-site work may be required to cover leave and working weekends or bank holidays.
