Job Description:

The Bristol Sanctuary service offers short-term support to clients. This service focuses on supporting episodes of emotional distress rather than providing ongoing support interventions. The service offers support interventions, including the discussion of self-management tools and the creation of Wellness Action Plans. The Second Step Team also offers clients support with managing suicidal ideation, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, low mood, social isolation, and sleep hygiene. We can offer additional support and signposting for issues such as housing, debt, health problems, drugs and alcohol use, substance misuse and unemployment.

Main duties of the job

You will be working alongside your peer Recovery Navigators and Case Workers, providing support to clients via the telephone, Virtual and in person.Youll have experience of working with people with mental health and complex needs, carrying out needs and risk assessments. You will need to take a holistic view, with a recovery and psychologically informed approach.You will have good organisational skills, be IT proficient and be able to complete client records within specific timeframes.You will have proven skills around managing risk and escalating referrals for clients who may require additional specialist support.Second Step offers an excellent annual leave package, support from our Employee Assistance Programme if you need it and a comprehensive induction programme with on-going training opportunities.

Job responsibilities

Ensure that all services are delivered in a warm and welcoming way, demonstrating ambition and hope for all service users.Build trusting and collaborative relationships with service users.Carry out role adhering to Second Steps policies, procedures, values, code of conduct and current legislation using a recovery orientated, psychologically informed, equalities based approach.Co-produce, implement and review recovery plans, crisis plans and other self-management tools e.g. Wellness Recovery Action Plan, in partnership with service users in line with best practice.

Person Specification

Experience

  • A minimum of two years significant experience working with people with mental health needs, or people with complex needs
  • Proven experience of working with people with multiple needs (e.g. mental health, homelessness, alcohol/drug dependency long term conditions)
  • Proven experience of carrying out needs and/or risk assessments and the support planning process
  • Experience of working with a number of individuals with competing needs and priorities
  • Proven experience of mental health issues and/or services, either as a user, carer or supporter
