Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations, and weight.
- Assist in the delivery of patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Ensure that the patient is the prime focus when making decisions about their care and wellbeing.
- Assist patients with compassion when undertaking normal activities of daily living while ensuring privacy, dignity, and human rights.
- Perform additional tasks as required by the team.
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months experience as a Mental Health Care Assistant in a hospital environment or a mental health care home (accompanied by qualifications when having 6–12 months experience, which is a practical sign‑off).
- Studying as a Student Nurse with at least 12 weeks clinical placements.
- Studying toward a Mental Health Nursing degree.
- Evidence of completing a Care Certificate or a relevant qualification, such as:
- Care Certificate from an NHS organisation.
- QCF Level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Support Services issued after 2011.
- QCF Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care or Clinical Healthcare Support issued after 2011.
- QCF Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support or Maternity & Paediatric Support issued after 2011 (for paediatric & maternity roles).
- Degree or Diploma in Nursing with no current NMC registration.
