Position
Consultant – Breast Reconstruction and General Plastic Surgery – The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH). Full‑time, 10PAs, starting January2027.
Responsibilities
- Provide breast reconstruction specialist and general plastic surgery support for NNUH.
- Participate in the general plastic surgery on‑call rota (hot week and non‑hot week coverage).
- Support hand trauma and other acute plastic surgical cases as required.
- Manage post‑operative patients on site during on‑call periods.
- Lead and contribute to the Trust’s Clinical Governance programme, including clinical audit, quality improvement, development of clinical guidelines/pathways, appraisal, and risk management.
- Serve as a member of the Consultant Staff Committee and contribute to governance and strategic planning.
- Engage in service development, teaching, and research activities as appropriate.
- Comply with the Trust’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion commitments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full GMC registration and entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
- Completion of the specialty training programme in plastic surgery with recommended CCT (or equivalent CESR/Portfolio) within 6months of interview.
- Evidence of fellowship or sub‑specialty training in breast reconstruction surgery.
- Experience in complex microvascular reconstruction.
- Demonstrated service improvement leadership and management skills.
- Experience in children’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Published research or evidence of ongoing research in a relevant area of interest.
- Commitment to developing a special interest within breast reconstruction or related fields.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to travel across multiple sites; residence within 15‑mile radius of the base Trust or 30‑min travel time.
