Clinical Support Worker – Emergency Department

An opportunity has arisen for additional Clinical Support Workers to join the Emergency Department Team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary. We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and motivated individuals ideally with acute care experience but this is not essential as training and support will be provided.
We have developed and grown so much over the last few years we have introduced streaming and rapid assessment at the front door for a better patient experienced and journey which you will be involved it.
A shift system is in operation.
Main duties of the job
Work in support of and under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) and the Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) providing nursing care and assistance to patients within defined parameters specified by the Registered Nurse.
Provide basic patient care and document that care in the patient records.

About us
We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant‑led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non‑life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Education and qualifications
- Willingness to undertake NVQ level 2 in care related area
- Basic literacy & numeracy skills
Experience
- Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids
