The school provides a nurturing, structured environment where pupils are supported to overcome barriers to learning linked to emotional, social, or behavioural needs. Pastoral support plays a key role in helping pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn, working closely with teaching staff and wider support teams.
Full‑time or part‑timeStart: ASAP
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pastoral and emotional support to pupils on a 1:1 or small‑group basis.
- Support pupils experiencing challenges such as anxiety, low confidence, emotional dysregulation, or difficulties with peer relationships.
- Act as a trusted adult, offering a calm, consistent presence throughout the school day.
- Support pupils during lessons, transitions, and unstructured times, helping them remain engaged and regulated.
- Deliver or support targeted interventions linked to wellbeing, social skills, and emotional development.
- Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals to support individual pastoral plans.
- Monitor and record pupil wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement, sharing updates with relevant staff.
Pre‑requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people in a pastoral, support, care, or educational setting.
- Understanding of emotional wellbeing, behaviour support, and how pastoral needs can impact learning.
- A calm, empathetic, and patient approach when supporting pupils facing emotional challenges.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships.
- Relevant qualifications or experience such as:
- Pastoral or wellbeing support
- Teaching Assistant
- Youth Work
- Childcare or care roles
- Or equivalent hands‑on experience
