Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret non‑invasive cardiac investigations, including resting ECGs, Holter monitoring, event recorders, blood pressure monitoring, exercise tolerance tests, tilt‑table testing, and other functional assessments.
  • Interpret and perform echocardiograms (transthoracic, trans‑oesophageal, and stress echocardiography where trained).
  • Assist with cardiac catheterisation procedures such as angiograms, angioplasty and right‑heart studies, and record intra‑cardiac pressures and waveforms.
  • Provide technical support for pacemaker, ICD and CRT implantations and conduct device checks and follow‑ups in line with current guidelines.
  • Analyse device data, offer expert interpretation and remote monitoring of cardiac devices.
  • Accurately document all tests and results, prepare timely, high‑quality clinical reports, and comply with departmental and national clinical governance standards.
  • Calibrate, maintain and ensure the safe use of cardiology equipment; report faults and support procurement or upgrade activities.
  • Communicate clearly with patients, obtain informed consent, provide reassurance, and supervise or train junior staff, students and trainees.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, audits, research projects and service improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Clinical Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, or equivalent; a BTEC or ONC in physiological measurement and medical physics.
  • Device qualification and accreditation in cardiac electrophysiology (e.g., ICD/Pacemaker).
  • Echocardiography accreditation (BHRS/BHRE/BSE).
  • Current knowledge of clinical specialties and developments in clinical practice.
  • Experience in customer care, handling challenging patient interactions.
