Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Apprentice Fleet Mechanic to join our well‑established team at the Stoke Workshop on a 3.5‑year contract. Successful applicants will complete a Motor Vehicle and Maintenance Technician – Light Vehicle (Level3 qualification). Responsibilities

  • Attend all training sessions for the apprenticeship programme as necessary.
  • Undertake any other required development work.
  • Maintain a professional and effective working relationship with colleagues, operational staff and customers.
  • Apply competencies learned at college to the workplace under appropriate supervision.
  • Comply with safe working practices, statutory training and Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Receive visitors to the department in a professional, friendly manner while maintaining the security of the area.
  • Communicate effectively in a clear, concise and professional manner.
  • Act as an ambassador for the department and promote services.
  • Ensure security in the work environment by locking doors and windows and wearing the Trust’s identity badge at all times while at work.
  • Carry out other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working/participating within a team and in a vehicle maintenance environment.
  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including Maths and English.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Good understanding of vehicles in general.
  • A desire/interest to work in the vehicle maintenance field.
  • Commitment to self‑development and achievement of apprenticeship.

Other Requirements

When the role involves a regulated activity, an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check is required, including any relevant barred lists for working with children or adults.
