Data Quality Technician
Location: SYFR Headquarters, Eyre Street, Sheffield S1 3FG
Hours: Full Time – 37 hours per week (Flexi Time)
Contract: Fixed-term until April 2027
Salary: £26,403–£28,142 per annum (Grade 4). Subject to national pay award negotiations for 2026.
The overall purpose of the role is to ensure the execution of data quality routines, proactively monitoring and reporting on data quality issues, and providing systems administration and support in data collection systems.
Qualifications
- Working experience in data quality management or a similar role.
- Supporting the development of key documentation.
- Providing systems administration and support for data collection systems.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Understanding of data quality management tools.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities
The key duties include supporting Business Intelligence in managing key data collection systems, ensuring data quality to support informed decision‑making, ensuring quality assurance of statutory obligations and submitting data to the National Fire Chiefs Council, Ministry for Housing, Community and Local Government and other organisations. You will conduct system reviews, recommend performance improvements, collate and validate statistical returns, perform daily data quality checks, maintain supporting documentation, and track and audit data passing through Business Intelligence managed systems.
