Job description

IT Services are hoping to offer UWE students the opportunity of paid work experience working with the IT Campus Support team as an IT Support Assistant x3.

The main responsibilities of the roles are:

  • Responding quickly to and resolving IT and Audio‑visual issues in teaching spaces during live teaching sessions.
  • Carrying out pro‑active maintenance activities on our student printers.
  • Carrying out IT/AV room checks in teaching spaces.

Although experience using IT and audio‑visual equipment would be an advantage, excellent customer service skills are also very important as the role is predominantly customer‑facing.

A full induction and training will be given to the successful candidates.

The roles will be on campus and will be based at Frenchay.

The contracts for these roles will be term time only for both semester 01 and semester 02 which is a total of 26 weeks (2 X 13‑week blocks).

*Please note that there may be the opportunity for an additional 4 weeks work at the end of semester 2 should individuals be available and business need require it.*

There will be a choice of two sets of working hours: The first is a morning shift starting at 07:00am and finishing at 10:00am. The second is an early evening shift starting at 16:30pm until 19:30pm. Both shifts are three hours long and are Mon‑Fri (making a total of 15 hours per week) – please note less hours will always be considered to fit with individuals teaching hours; however, the start and finish times are set. Once the team is assembled, we will organise a rota system together so that people will do a mixture of mornings and evenings to get the best fit with their studies.

The pay rate is £13.45 per hour (C‑grade spine point 10) and holidays are UWE pro rata.

If you’re interested in applying for one of these roles, please contact the Temporary Staff Unit @Temp Unit in the first instance or fill the application form.

Early applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to close the advert should we feel able to appoint appropriate candidates.

The closing date for this advert will be 09 August 2026.
