Contract: 12 Months

We’re looking for an experienced Facilities Engineer to join our client’s Facilities team on a 12-month contract. This is a hands‑on role responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of office and operational sites, ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant and fully operational.

This opportunity would suit a qualified electrical engineer with a strong facilities maintenance background who enjoys working independently while collaborating with a wider engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with the maintenance schedule.
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requests and resolve faults across multiple sites.
  • Conduct operational, compliance and health & safety audits at designated locations.
  • Manage specialist contractors on site, including providing access and ensuring work is completed safely.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, compliance documentation and site logbooks.
  • Produce monthly maintenance, audit and environmental reports for the Facilities Manager.
  • Carry out annual Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) and ad hoc testing for office and field-based teams.
  • Participate in the on‑call rota (currently one week in four) covering multiple sites.
  • Manage the purchase of maintenance consumables and equipment using the company credit card, ensuring accurate monthly reporting.
  • Assist the wider Field Services Engineering team with general maintenance activities when required.
  • Deputise for the Facilities Manager when necessary.
  • Travel throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays, as business needs require.

About You

You’ll be a proactive, self‑motivated engineer who takes pride in delivering high‑quality work while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and compliance. You’ll be comfortable managing your own workload, communicating with stakeholders at all levels and working both independently and as part of a wider engineering team.

  • City & Guilds (or equivalent) qualified Electrician.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Current Security Clearance (or ability to meet clearance requirements).
  • Previous experience in a Facilities Engineer or similar maintenance role.
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Experience supervising specialist maintenance contractors.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience carrying out minor building fabric repairs.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • City & Guilds Test & Inspection qualification.
  • IOSH (or equivalent) Health & Safety qualification.
  • Minimum of five years’ post‑qualification experience.
  • Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Experience with plumbing and drainage systems.
  • Knowledge of fire and intruder alarm systems.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems.
  • Experience working with UPS systems, standby generators and Building Management Systems (BMS).
