Overview
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Children’s Rights and Participation Support Officer to join our Children’s Rights and Participation Team. We are looking for someone who is experienced and passionate about working with children and young people, ensuring that their voices influence and shape the service that our Children in Care and Care Leavers receive.
Responsibilities
- Join the Children’s Rights and Participation Service and play a vital role in improving outcomes for children and young people; help ensure the voices of Children in Care and Care Leavers are heard, respected and embedded in decision-making processes.
- Build meaningful relationships with children, young people and their families, supporting them to engage with professionals and leadership to advocate for their needs.
- Use a trauma-informed approach to contribute to achieving positive, sustainable outcomes and plans of permanence; help remove barriers to support.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies, participate in meetings, and support children to influence service delivery, including involvement in Children in Care Council activity and staff recruitment processes.
- Maintain a focus on children’s rights, safeguarding and participation, with a commitment to inclusive, child-centred practice.
- Develop professional skills through supervision and training while ensuring every child’s lived experience and voice is recognised, valued and shapes the services they receive.
Location and Working Arrangements
The contractual work location for this role is The Portal, Ellesmere Port; you will be required to work across the borough as needed. This is a hybrid role that includes both office and home working, and may require evening meetings.
