Overview

Job Title: our client Service Officer (PSO) – HMP Doncaster & HMP our client. Are you a dedicated criminal justice professional looking to make a meaningful impact? Service Care Solutions is seeking experienced our client Service Officers (PSOs) to join our team on a contract basis at HMP Doncaster and HMP our client. This is an excellent opportunity to support offender rehabilitation, contribute to public protection, and work within a committed team environment.

The our client Service Officer (PSO) will be instrumental in assessing, managing, and supporting individuals within the probation system. You will handle a caseload of low to medium risk offenders, contribute to risk management strategies, and provide essential support within the criminal justice framework. This position is ideal for professionals dedicated to rehabilitation and safeguarding, with a focus on reducing reoffending and promoting pro-social behaviour.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of low to medium risk individuals, supporting our client Officers in higher-risk cases.
  • Conduct assessments, implement sentences, and undertake offender management tasks.
  • Develop, review, and report on Risk Management Plans, updating on any significant risk or safeguarding concerns.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for courts, criminal justice agencies, and partner organisations.
  • Supervise individuals on community orders, suspended sentences, or transitioning from custody.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records using IT systems.
  • Make referrals to internal and external services, ensuring individuals receive appropriate interventions.
  • Liaise with offender managers, prison staff, service providers, and external agencies.
  • Conduct prison visits, community visits, and support court-based work, including report writing and breach proceedings.
  • Facilitate structured programmes and interventions to aid offender rehabilitation.
  • Conduct mandatory alcohol and drug testing.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities aligned with statutory guidance.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by promoting positive behaviours and working collaboratively with colleagues.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience in criminal justice, social care, safeguarding, or related support environments.
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment, safeguarding, and professional boundaries.
  • Caseload management experience supporting vulnerable individuals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills and IT competency.

Contract Details

Contract Duration: 2 weeks, with an extension of approximately 12 months for maternity cover. Some flexibility and out-of-hours work may be required, along with prison security clearance.
