City College Norwich is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Instructor Engineering/Automotive to join our Engineering Department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing learners’ practical skills, confidence and industry readiness through high-quality training and support. Whether you already have teaching experience or are looking to move from industry into education, we would welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about helping learners achieve their full potential.
About the Role
As an Instructor, you will plan and deliver engaging practical sessions, demonstrate industry-standard techniques and support learners in developing the skills required for successful careers within engineering and automotive industries.
Working alongside lecturers, technicians and curriculum teams, you will:
- Deliver practical and professionally focused learning sessions.
- Demonstrate safe and effective engineering and automotive techniques.
- Assess learner competence against awarding body requirements.
- Provide constructive feedback that supports learner progress.
- Prepare and maintain equipment, resources and workshop environments.
- Promote and model excellent health and safety practices.
- Support learner achievement, confidence and employability skills.
- Contribute to open days, recruitment events and enrichment activities.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 qualification (or above) in Engineering, Automotive or a related discipline.
- Experience working within the engineering or automotive sector.
- Strong practical skills and knowledge relevant to the curriculum area.
- Ability to prepare and maintain materials, equipment and learning environments.
- Commitment to student success and delivering an excellent learner experience.
- Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities when working with young people and vulnerable adults.
