Research Team Administrator (Apprentice)

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust offers a role as a Research Team Administrator (Apprentice), supporting a busy research team across hundreds of studies within the Clinical Research Coordination Team.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Clinical Research Delivery Team in setting up and running research studies, including maintaining site files, archiving, uploading recruitment details, and participant data to internal systems.
  • Implement standard operating procedures, propose improvements, and support operational practices.
  • Provide operational support to colleagues as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, diary management, and distribution of deliveries.
  • Maintain electronic systems, ensuring data quality standards are met.
  • Deliver professional telephone service, take accurate messages, and provide information and signposting.
  • Provide cross‑cover for other staff across the hospital to maintain consistent and effective service.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Good standard of secondary education with literacy and numeracy skills at GCSE pass level 4 or above or equivalent.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently, with strong organisational and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, telephone, and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Commitment to completing Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship training.
  • Proficient in using hospital computerised patient systems.
  • Experience as a Receptionist or Admin Assistant in a clinical or customer‑focused environment.
  • Administrative and organisational experience.
