Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for a TIG and MMA Pipe Welder based in Bridgwater. The TIG and MMA Pipe Welder will be responsible for preparing, aligning, and welding pipework to specified standards and drawings using TIG and MMA processes. Daily tasks include reading and interpreting technical drawings and welding procedures, setting up welding equipment, performing high-quality welds, and conducting basic visual inspections on completed work. The role involves working safely within site rules and permit systems, collaborating with supervisors and other trades, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The welder will also be expected to contribute to safe systems of work, follow quality assurance requirements, and meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Strong TIG and MMA welding skills on pipework, with proven ability to produce high-quality, consistent welds in various positions.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Welding
  • Competence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, isometrics, welding procedures, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with pipe fitting preparation such as cutting, bevelling, alignment, and use of appropriate clamps and fixtures.
  • Sound understanding of health and safety practices, including safe use of welding equipment, PPE, and adherence to site rules and permit-to-work systems.
  • Relevant welding qualifications or codings (e.g., BS EN or ISO standards) and evidence of previous testing or weld approvals for pipework.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary site team, follow instructions, and communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues.
  • Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work to tight tolerances and project deadlines.
  • Previous experience on industrial, energy, or infrastructure sites is beneficial; experience on nuclear or large-scale construction projects is an advantage.
  • Flexibility to work shifts or overtime when required by project demands and reliable attendance for on-site work in Bridgwater.
