Role Overview
The Teaching Assistant works in partnership with teachers to improve the learning and attainment of students while promoting independence, self‑esteem and social inclusion. The role serves to support students so they can access the curriculum, actively participate in learning and experience a sense of achievement. The role is vital for helping students reach their potential. Future career progression is possible through Level 3 and Level 5 Teaching Assistant apprenticeships and Lift Schools’ Initial Teacher Training programme.
Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with teachers to enhance learning and attainment.
- Promote student independence, self‑esteem and social inclusion.
- Provide support enabling students to access the curriculum and participate in learning.
- Foster a sense of achievement among students.
Qualifications and Attributes
- L3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeship, or equivalent, or willingness to work towards the qualification.
- Understanding of a range of pupils’ learning needs.
- Patience, calm demeanor and empathy to understand student needs and challenges.
- Ability to engage and enthuse students to want to learn.
