About The Role
Second Chef at Maiden Castle House Residential Home, Dorchester (DT1 2NJ). Pay: up to £14.50 per hour. Hours: 40 per week. Shift pattern: 07:15am to 17:15hrs. 4‑day working week with alternate weekend off.
Who are we looking for
You will be organised with the ability to meet deadlines. Ideally you will have experience working in a kitchen producing attractive and high‑quality meals in high volumes.
We’re looking for someone with a Certificate in NVQ Level 2 Food Production / Hygiene or a willingness to undertake one. You will need an understanding of health and safety and other relevant legislation.
Confidence to take the lead when needed and the ability to work as a team player.
What you will be doing
- Creating, preparing and cooking nutritious meals for our residents – ensuring quality and presentation to a high standard.
- Planning meals and menus – consulting with residents and care staff to ensure that individual dietary needs and preferences are catered for across all residents.
- Alongside our Head Chef – supervise and support our kitchen team.
- Ensuring all health and safety and other relevant legislation is adhered to within your area.
- Covering for the Head Chef when necessary: assuming responsibility for ordering, checking in and controlling supplies.
