Role Summary
Based within the rolling stock industry (trains) we are recruiting for Mechanical Engineers to operate out of a rolling stock depot in Crewe to carry out the mechanical overhaul of rail bogies.
Responsibilities
- Bogie overhaul, damage repair and engineering
- Wheel set overhaul, repair and analysis
- Bogie chassis damage repair and cleaning
- Bogie and gearbox engineering / repair
- Wheel exchange on wheel sets
- Bearing, axle and wheel mounting
- Components and sub‑assemblies overhaul, repair and analysis
- Re‑engineering and production of spare parts
- General mechanical repair and replacement on rolling stock to ensure reliable, safe and defect‑free trains
Profile / Experience
Highly self‑motivated, able to work independently, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Extensive all‑round knowledge of mechanical engineering, knowledge of modern rolling stock systems and experience of train depot operations.
Qualifications
Time‑served and apprentice trained, relevant mechanical papers. Minimum NVQ level 2 in a mechanical discipline. Will consider people with 18 months or more in a vehicle manufacturing environment or similar industry.
