Learning Support Assistant

Overview

Wirral Metropolitan College is looking for dedicated learning support assistants and carers to join their team on flexible timetables, starting in September. No classroom experience is required; a calm, patient, and supportive attitude is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support students in class 1-to-1.
• Assist with schoolwork under teacher supervision.
• Help the learner understand instruction through a variety of means, encouraging self‑confidence and independence.
• Identify signs of distress and offer reassurance.
• Implement care programmes, as appropriate.
• Encourage the learner to communicate.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE C/4 or international equivalent).
• No prior experience required – the team values potential and offers full support.

Role Details

• Contracts until the end of the academic year, with a strong possibility of extension or a permanent position for the right people.
• Flexible hours, with an effort to meet your preferred timetable.
• Many temporary staff secure permanent roles and some progress to PGCEs and teaching positions.
