Design Manager

Overview

Design Manager — St Albans. Salary Up to £60,000 plus package.

Recognised industry leading Main Contractor providing quality, distinctive new build projects nationally with major clients. Each development varies in size and scheme, with the opportunity to deliver a diverse range of schemes such as residential, education, retail and health care. A strong pipeline of work is available and this role is based in St Albans. A strong Senior Technical Coordinator who can manage projects and the design process may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Able to manage two to three projects varying in value from £6m to £15m.
• Project management and leadership during pre-construction and detailed design stages.
• Interfacing with other disciplines within the business such as estimating, commercial and operations.
• Challenging designers to ensure good value design.
• Able to procure and agree scopes for all design sub-design consultants.
• Coordination of the design from all aspects.
• Controlling design costs and measuring design within tender budgets.
• Managing critical path and programmes.
• Able to use Microsoft Office, Asta programming and CAD, True View, Revit or BIM.

Qualifications

• Experience working for a main contractor for 4+ years.
• Good knowledge and understanding of technical issues and main construction technologies.
• Ability to provide direction and focus to the team.
• Experience in coordinating design across disciplines.
