Job Title: Associate Director/Associate/Principal/Senior Critical Infrastructure Electrical Design Engineer

Locations: Glasgow or Manchester, UK

Job Overview

The AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice is seeking experienced electrical design engineers to support critical infrastructure project delivery across the UK. You will work across aviation, residential, commercial, education, healthcare, transportation, defence, and energy sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure an understanding of project briefs.
  • Design and specify electrical systems – LV & MV power systems, earthing, renewable technology (PV / BESS etc), connection to the grid network, and general electrical building services systems.
  • Carry out detailed calculations using industry standard software tools (Trimble Prodesign, ETAP, PV design tools, etc.) and manage others’ work as required.
  • Prepare technical specifications and collaborate with the BIM team to produce models and drawings using Autodesk Revit.
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections and monitor site works.
  • Write reports and technical notes, maintain complete records and archives to company standards.
  • Adhere to quality, environmental and governance processes.
  • Assist with the technical development of junior staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Qualification in Engineering / Electrical Engineering or related subjects.
  • Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IET preferred.
  • Strong computer literacy in software such as ETAP, Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS and Microsoft packages.
  • Knowledge of energy reduction methods and approaches to decarbonising buildings; design of PV systems and BESS.
  • Experience working in a design consultancy and/or contractor design environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards.
  • Ability to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative and operate proactively.
  • Good report‑writing skills and experience presenting to and attending meetings with clients.
  • Comfortable working within time and cost budgets.

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of UK residency for 5years or longer.
