Overview

We are recruiting for two Electrical Fitters to join a leading client in the Rail Rolling Stock industry on a major upgrade programme for the Edinburgh Tram network. This role supports the modernisation of one of the UK’s most successful tram fleets. Based at Gogar Depot, Edinburgh, you will be key to the rollout of upgraded LED interior lighting.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical modifications to tram interior lighting systems.
• Remove and reinstall lighting units safely and efficiently.
• Modify existing wiring arrangements to accommodate upgraded LED lighting.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Complete all work in accordance with engineering standards, technical instructions and safety procedures.
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality and workmanship.
• Accurately complete maintenance and modification documentation.
• Work collaboratively with depot and project teams to meet programme deadlines.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience carrying out electrical installation, modification or maintenance work.
• Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and technical documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Desirable

• Previous Rolling Stock, Rail, Tram or Transportation industry experience.
• Ex‑Forces electrical engineering background.
• Experience carrying out electrical modification programmes or retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of low‑voltage electrical systems and wiring modifications.

Candidates from a range of engineering sectors will be considered, including rail, rolling stock, defence, military, automotive, aerospace, manufacturing and industrial environments.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday
• Day Shifts Only
• 07:30 – 15:00
• 37.5 hours per week
• 30‑minute unpaid lunch break
