Specialist Clinical Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist

The Specialist Clinical Respiratory & Sleep Physiologist will work as an independent practitioner in the newly formed Community Diagnostics Centre at Southlands Hospital. The post will work alongside the service lead and the wider Sleep/Lung Function Team across other hospital sites, offering high‑quality specialist diagnostics and treatment for a variety of respiratory and sleep disorders for patients in the West Sussex area.

Responsibilities

• Plan and undertake simple, specialist, complex and highly complex diagnostic assessments, working with a considerable degree of responsibility and autonomy in accordance with ARTP or ERS/ATS criteria where applicable.
• Analyse, interpret, and initiate treatment based on a large range of highly complex diagnostic tests, regularly monitoring patient progress.
• Obtain accurate and informative results, maintaining high standards of clinical accuracy.
• Provide clinical supervision and management (including appraisals) for junior staff as delegated by the Clinical/Service Lead.
• Maintain waiting list times within local and national targets.
• Maintain own professional development and registration, ensuring up‑to‑date clinical knowledge.
• Educate and give general advice to clinical staff.
