Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has become available for an aspiring healthcare scientist wishing to train in the speciality of Respiratory Physiology and to form part of the regional community diagnostic centre.

Overview

The post holder will undertake a 24‑month training programme as a Healthcare Science Level 4 Apprentice within the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. Formal training will be provided to develop the skills and knowledge required for working in a respiratory physiology service, in partnership with an approved college provider. This is a full‑time role with an expectation of self‑directed study, attendance at college (virtually and in person), and successful completion of the apprenticeship within the contracted period.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the 24‑month Level 4 Cardio‑Respiratory Apprenticeship in Healthcare Science.
  • Develop and apply skills to perform routine respiratory and cardiac diagnostic tests.
  • Attend college training sessions, both virtual and face‑to‑face, and complete all required coursework.
  • Commit to self‑directed study and meet all apprenticeship milestones within the contracted period.
  • Support effective teamwork and contribute to high‑standard delivery of services.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9‑4 (or equivalent), including Maths, English, and Science.
  • Willingness to undertake any training or development relevant to the role.
  • Experience working within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience in a customer‑service setting.
  • Positive mindset toward organisational change, continuous improvement, and learning.
  • Effective interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, with a high degree of self‑awareness and self‑regulation.
  • Accountability for delivering agreed objectives and consistently professional, collaborative, and compassionate behaviour.
