Position

Domestic Assistant – based at Ayrshire Central Hospital. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours

14.8 hours per week. Monday – Thursday, 6 am – 9 am and Friday, 6 am – 8.48 am. Job share will be considered.

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro‑rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.

What You Will Do

Working within the Domestic Services Department you will undertake a variety of housekeeping and cleaning duties which are carried out to a high standard.

Knowledge, Training and Experience Required

Experience with industrial cleaning equipment or working within a healthcare setting is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. You will need to work independently and as part of a team, communicate effectively, be physically fit and understand the importance of cleanliness in a healthcare environment. A degree of flexibility is required as priorities can change due to staffing and activity in the North Sector premises.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran may offer visa sponsorship for certain roles, provided the post meets the minimum salary threshold and any other required criteria. Sponsorship is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis following interview and pre‑employment checks. Eligibility for sponsorship is not guaranteed and is not available for Band 2 posts or bank contracts.
