General Manager – Novo Gyms
We are looking for a driven, confident, and people‑focused General Manager to lead one of our growing fitness clubs. This role is ideal for someone who is commercially minded, passionate about fitness, confident leading a team, and ready to grow with an ambitious gym brand as we continue to expand.
Responsibilities
- Operations & Facility Management: Oversee the daily running of the gym, ensuring the club operates smoothly and professionally. Maintain high standards across cleanliness, safety, equipment functionality, and overall presentation. Manage opening and closing procedures, staff schedules, and day‑to‑day workflows. Carry out regular facility checks and ensure issues are reported or resolved promptly. Identify areas for improvement and take ownership of operational standards. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements. Maintain a premium environment across the gym floor, changing rooms, recovery areas, and communal spaces.
- Member Experience: Deliver an outstanding member experience from the moment members walk through the door. Build a welcoming, community‑focused environment where members feel valued and supported. Handle member enquiries, feedback, and concerns professionally and efficiently. Support onboarding, engagement, and retention strategies. Help create a positive gym culture that encourages members to stay, train, and progress. Act as a visible and approachable leader within the club. Drive a service‑led culture across the team to ensure members receive a consistent, high‑quality experience.
- Sales & Business Performance: Drive membership sales, lead conversion, and local outreach activity. Execute promotions, campaigns, and community initiatives. Monitor club performance, sales targets, and key business metrics. Create action plans to improve sales, retention, and member satisfaction. Work closely with ownership and senior leadership to support club growth. Support the team in delivering strong commercial results and excellent customer service. Identify opportunities to increase revenue, improve processes, and strengthen the club’s local presence.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, motivate, and support gym staff. Lead by example and maintain a positive, professional, high‑performance culture. Support team development through coaching, feedback, and regular check‑ins. Encourage accountability, teamwork, and excellent service standards. Help develop future leaders within the business. Create an environment where staff feel supported, motivated, and proud to be part of Novo Gyms. Ensure all team members understand their role in delivering the Novo Gyms member experience.
Qualifications
- Previous gym, leisure, hospitality, retail, or management experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Commercially aware with experience in sales, operations, or customer service.
- Confident problem‑solver with a proactive approach.
- Passionate about fitness, health, and member experience.
- Reliable, professional, and motivated to grow with the company.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple areas of the business.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
- CPR/AED or First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
