Overview

Primary SEND Teacher – Barrow-in-Furness Vision for Education are recruiting on behalf of a specialist school in Barrow-in-Furness for a dedicated Primary SEND Teacher to join their team from September 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. This ongoing supply position runs through to July 2027, with potential for a permanent role for the right Primary SEND Teacher.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons through sensory and play-based approaches.
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation through carefully planned transitions and regulation opportunities embedded throughout the day.
  • Create functional communication opportunities using Makaton, visual supports and communication boards.
  • Deliver highly interactive sensory storytelling sessions that promote language and communication development.
  • Encourage curiosity, exploration and early problem-solving skills through practical and investigative activities.
  • Work closely with support staff and families to ensure pupils achieve their full potential.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where every child can thrive.
