Responsibilities
- Attend lectures given by Durham University to support student progression.
- Plan and prepare lessons in line with departmental expectations, using appropriate teaching methods and resources.
- Assist in the development of modules from existing module specifications.
- Prepare module examinations and other forms of formative assessment, marking and providing feedback to students.
- Act as a module coordinator for a specific maths module.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the virtual learning environment (VLE).
- Provide input for related modules to the annual review and reporting process.
- Review your own professional development and identify any training needs.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of student attendance and performance.
- Provide, when/if required, academic learning support to a small number of students.
- Participate in regular meetings with both teaching and support staff.
- Support various student engagement activities around the ISC.
Qualifications
- A degree in a related subject area (essential but Master’s degree strongly preferred).
- Fluent spoken and written English (essential).
- A recognised teaching qualification (desirable).
- Teaching experience, delivering Mathematics programmes within a Further Education or Higher Education context (essential).
- Experience of working with international students online and face to face (highly desirable).
- Proven ability to support international students in academic transition (essential).
- Experience of preparing resources, assessments and examinations (essential).
- Competent IT skills (essential).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines (essential).
- Confident and competent practitioner, online (e.g., use of Teams/Zoom) and face to face (desirable).
