Role
As a Project Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for the delivery of highly bespoke projects, working alongside senior project and construction teams to ensure financial and contractual performance from pre‑construction through to final account.
This role is suited to an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong technical background, ideally within civil engineering, structural works or complex packages, who is comfortable managing challenging subcontract scopes, cost risk and programme interfaces within high‑value, detail‑driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the commercial management of one or more elements of the overarching project.
- Lead cost control, forecasting and reporting (CVRs), ensuring accuracy and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage procurement strategies for complex subcontract packages, particularly structural, civils and enabling works.
- Prepare and negotiate subcontractor appointments, valuations and final accounts.
- Proactively manage variations, change control and commercial risk, ensuring contractual entitlement is protected.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, planners and site teams to align commercial and construction strategies.
- Prepare and present cost reports to senior management, highlighting risks, opportunities and mitigation measures.
- Support or lead final account negotiations with supply chain and clients where required.
- Ensure all commercial activities are carried out in accordance with contract terms, company procedures and best practice.
About You
You will ideally have:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor / Project Surveyor within contracting.
- Experience delivering high‑value residential, structural or technically complex construction projects.
- A background in civil engineering, structures, and/or groundworks.
- Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract and commercial best practice.
- Confidence managing subcontractor relationships, negotiations and commercial risk independently.
- Excellent cost reporting, forecasting and analytical skills.
- A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with strong commercial judgement.
- The ability to work effectively in a high‑end, quality‑driven environment with exacting standards.
