Your new company A long-established and highly respected M&E contractor with a strong presence across Northern Ireland and the UK is seeking to appoint a Commercial Manager to join its senior leadership team. With a diverse portfolio of projects across the commercial, education, healthcare, data centres and industrial sectors, this is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the continued growth and success of a well-regarded business.
Your new role As Commercial Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the commercial and contractual performance of multiple M&E projects, ensuring profitability is maximised whilst commercial risks are identified and effectively managed.
Working closely with the Regional and Operations Director, you will provide commercial leadership across the business, supporting project delivery teams and ensuring all contractual obligations are administered correctly.Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading commercial and contractual negotiations on new and existing projects.
- Reviewing contract terms and conditions, identifying risks and advising on mitigation strategies.
- Managing the commercial performance of projects from award through to final account.
- Overseeing cash flow forecasting, WIP reporting and monthly commercial reviews.
- Monitoring project costs, margins and financial performance to ensure targets are achieved.
- Providing commercial support and guidance to Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors.
- Supporting the resolution of contractual disputes and commercial issues with clients and subcontractors.
- Ensuring applications, valuations, variations and final accounts are submitted and managed effectively.
- Producing accurate financial reports and forecasts for senior management and board-level review.
- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Degree qualified in a commercial, financial, business-related discipline or possess equivalent industry experience.
- Previous experience in a Commercial Manager or senior commercial role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge and experience administering NEC contracts and associated contract options.
- Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to identify and manage project risks.
- Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience producing commercial reporting, forecasts and financial analysis.
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient IT skills.
