We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Plant Fitter to join our team based at our Portadown Branch.

We are looking for flexible, enthusiastic people with a passion for construction plant fitting to join us.

Candidates must have successfully completed a Construction Plant Fitter Apprenticeship or equivalent.

Applicants with experience in an agricultural, HGV, or marine environment may also be considered.

Training will be provided, with excellent opportunities for career progression within Pat O’Donnell & Co.

Job Summary

Construction Plant Fitter with a recognised Craft Certificate, experienced in maintaining, servicing, and repairing heavy plant equipment and machinery.

Skilled in fault-finding and responding to breakdowns to keep customer equipment operating safely and efficiently while delivering a reliable, customer-focused service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Follow safe systems of work and take reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of others.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair of all company products, including construction plant, industrial engines, and marine applications.
  • Maintain and repair engines, transmissions, axles, hydraulic systems, and associated components.
  • Service, repair, and overhaul brake systems, fuel systems, and steering systems.
  • Work with electrical systems, ECUs, CAN bus systems, and associated technologies.
  • Test new machinery and carry out pre-delivery inspections.
  • Participate fully in all training and development programmes, including cross-skilling in related competencies.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with company Health & Safety practices.
  • Maintain accurate job records and paperwork using the company’s ERP system.
  • Proactively report faults and additional work requirements to the Line Manager.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships as an ambassador for the company.

Essential Requirements

  • Fully qualified with a recognised trade certificate.
  • Construction Plant Fitter Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
  • Full clean driving licence (BE trailer category advantageous).
  • Diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Positive attitude and commitment to high standards of work.
  • Strong team player.
  • Existing authorisation to live and work in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
  • Fluent English.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience servicing and maintaining heavy machinery.
  • Experience within agricultural, HGV, or marine environments.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday.
