Your new company A leading Mechanical & Electrical contractor is seeking a motivated Technical Apprentice to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a school-leaver or aspiring engineer to begin a career within the building services industry, gaining hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification.
You’ll work alongside experienced Project Engineers and Project Managers, gaining exposure to the delivery of a wide range of mechanical and electrical building services projects.
Your new role As a Technical Apprentice, you will provide technical and project support to Engineers and Project Managers, assisting with the day-to-day delivery of projects from design through to commissioning and handover.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and maintaining engineering drawing registers.
- Assisting with the commissioning and testing of building services systems.
- Supporting engineers with the preparation of equipment schedules and material take-offs.
- Assisting with the resolution of day-to-day site-related issues.
- Liaising with subcontractors, designers and site teams.
- Attending technical and project meetings.
- Maintaining site progress records, including photographs and project documentation.
- Assisting with the production and updating of engineering drawings.
- Supporting the preparation of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Developing an understanding of building services systems and project delivery processes.
What you’ll need to succeed
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
- Additional qualifications in Science, Engineering, Technology and Design or similar subjects would be advantageous.
- A genuine interest in engineering and construction.
- A willingness to undertake a recognised Building Services Engineering qualification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Own transport or the ability to travel to project sites would be desirable.
