Your new company A leading Mechanical & Electrical contractor is seeking a motivated Technical Apprentice to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a school-leaver or aspiring engineer to begin a career within the building services industry, gaining hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification.

You’ll work alongside experienced Project Engineers and Project Managers, gaining exposure to the delivery of a wide range of mechanical and electrical building services projects.

Your new role As a Technical Apprentice, you will provide technical and project support to Engineers and Project Managers, assisting with the day-to-day delivery of projects from design through to commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and maintaining engineering drawing registers.
  • Assisting with the commissioning and testing of building services systems.
  • Supporting engineers with the preparation of equipment schedules and material take-offs.
  • Assisting with the resolution of day-to-day site-related issues.
  • Liaising with subcontractors, designers and site teams.
  • Attending technical and project meetings.
  • Maintaining site progress records, including photographs and project documentation.
  • Assisting with the production and updating of engineering drawings.
  • Supporting the preparation of Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
  • Developing an understanding of building services systems and project delivery processes.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths.
  • Additional qualifications in Science, Engineering, Technology and Design or similar subjects would be advantageous.
  • A genuine interest in engineering and construction.
  • A willingness to undertake a recognised Building Services Engineering qualification.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Own transport or the ability to travel to project sites would be desirable.
