SpLD Tutor – Part‑time, permanent position (31 hours per week) at Newcastle College, Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group. Salary ranges from £32,136 to £42,848 pro‑rata, corresponding to an actual salary of £26,924–£35,899.
Responsibilities
- Provide SpLD support (Dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, AD(H)D, Autism) to students across a range of courses.
- Conduct one‑to‑one multi‑sensory, cumulative literacy programmes, including devising and implementing individual learning programmes.
- Complete exam‑access arrangement assessments under JCQ guidelines and process applications via the JCQ online system.
- Screen and conduct diagnostic interviews as required.
- Prepare flexible learning materials and monitor student progress.
Qualifications & Experience
- First degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
- Willingness to train for an appropriate teaching qualification recognised under the FE Teachers’ Qualifications Regulations 2007.
- Relevant teaching qualification (e.g., DTLLS or PGCE) and experience within the FE sector.
- Experience supporting learners with Autism Syndrome and other SpLDs.
- Post‑graduate Diploma/Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties (AM BDA) or working towards it, and a practicing certificate, is desirable.
