Purpose of Role
We’re recruiting for an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the delivery of hard FM services across a key Defence site at Benson Barracks, with occasional support required at Dalton Barracks.
Job Description
This is a hands‑on management role leading a team of 12 multi‑disciplinary engineers delivering planned and reactive maintenance services across the estate. You’ll be responsible for ensuring operational performance, compliance, and service excellence, while managing health & safety, audits, recruitment, and small quoted works/projects on site.
The successful candidate will bring strong facilities management experience within a hard services environment and be confident managing internal engineering teams in a fast‑paced, customer‑focused setting. A technical background in either electrical or mechanical disciplines would be highly advantageous, although we are open to candidates with strong FM leadership experience who may not hold formal technical qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Previous experience in a Facilities Manager or Hard FM management role
- Experience leading multi‑disciplinary engineering teams within a self‑delivery model
- Strong understanding of hard FM compliance, statutory maintenance, and SFG20
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation and safe systems of work
- Experience managing audits, compliance reporting, and contractor performance
- IOSH qualification or equivalent desirable
- Technical qualifications in electrical or mechanical disciplines advantageous but not essential
- Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
