Primary SEMH Teacher (QTS) Salisbury Temp to Perm
Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated and resilient Primary SEMH Teacher (QTS) to join a specialist setting in Salisbury on a temp-to-perm basis starting after Easter. This role focuses on teaching and supporting primary pupils who require a nurturing, structured, and highly adapted approach to learning due to Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). The school is seeking a teacher who is calm, consistent, and passionate about helping young pupils who may have experienced challenges in their educational journey. You’ll be delivering tailored lessons in a small-class environment, supported by an experienced team who all work together to prioritise emotional wellbeing and engagement. This is an incredibly rewarding, relationship-focused role where your patience and persistence will have a lasting impact.
The Role
- Teach a small group of primary pupils with SEMH needs
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons based on individual needs
- Provide routine, boundaries, and a supportive classroom atmosphere
- Use trauma-informed and restorative approaches to behaviour
- Work closely with support staff, SENCO, and specialist teams
- Plan personalised learning pathways and track individual progress
- Focus on emotional development, communication, and core academic skills
- Support rein education through patience and consistency
Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) essential
- Experience in SEMH, SEN, PRU, or challenging behaviour settings is ideal
- Comfortable teaching mixed-ability primary groups in a small setting
- Calm, resilient, and committed to building meaningful relationships
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Able to adapt learning creatively to meet a wide range of needs
- Keen to grow into a permanent role following the temp-to-perm period
Contract Details
- Position: Primary SEMH Teacher
- Location: Salisbury
- Start: After Easter
- Pay: £32,916 – £51,047 per annum
- Contract Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm
- Setting: SEMH (primary aged pupils)
Experience, Training & Safeguarding
- QTS required
- SEMH/SEN experience desirable but not essential
- Safeguarding training required (can be provided)
- Training in positive handling/restorative approaches beneficial
Eligibility Requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
- Two recent teaching references
