Urenco is a global leader in the production of low‑carbon energy, working at the cutting edge of the transition to a sustainable, net‑zero world. Urenco UK is seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the UNS Mechanical Engineering Team at our Capenhurst site.

What You’ll Do

• Health, Safety, Environment & SecurityEnsure that all mechanical engineering work meets the highest safety, regulatory compliance, and security standards, incorporating safety principles, full hazard consideration, and export control requirements.
• Team Leadership & PerformanceLead and develop the Mechanical Engineering Team, promoting teamwork, ownership, and a collaborative environment across engineering disciplines.
• Technical SpecialistServe as a subject‑matter expert, providing guidance on mechanical integrity, design compliance, plant modifications, and technical investigations.
• Mechanical Engineering ExcellenceEnsure design compliance, provide technical direction to construction and commissioning teams, and continuously improve procedures, standards, and systems.

Qualifications and Experience

• Professional Engineer with extensive experience delivering mechanical design solutions on operational plants.
• Chartership desirable.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a chemical, nuclear, or similarly regulated industry.
• Proven experience on a Top Tier COMAH or nuclear licensed site.
• Broad understanding of mechanical equipment, technologies, and engineering principles.
• Strong experience working within multidisciplinary teams and managing inter‑disciplinary interfaces.
