Overview
About the role: A small independent provision supports students with SEMH needs, so the program focuses on sports as a therapeutic approach to learning. We are looking for an individual who will build relationships with secondary students and support them with a semi-formal curriculum full-time.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging sports and physical education sessions for pupils with SEMH needs, ensuring activities are inclusive and adapted to individual abilities.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment, promoting emotional well-being and implementing effective behaviour management strategies.
- Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, using observations and data to inform tailored interventions that build confidence, resilience and social skills.
Pre-requisites / Qualifications
- Proven experience delivering sports or physical activity sessions to pupils with varied learning needs, specifically those with SEMH.
- Relevant training such as behaviour management, SEND awareness, SEMH support courses, or sports coaching qualifications (QTS not required).
- Strong understanding of SEMH and behavioural needs, safeguarding procedures, and inclusive teaching strategies; ability to differentiate activities for diverse needs.
