Head Chef

Position: Full Time, Leicester, UK. Salary: £40,000 per annum plus company benefits.

Base: Thurnby Fields, Leicester – Opening September 2026. Cinnamon Care is opening a luxurious residential and dementia care home based in Thurnby, Leicestershire. The home will offer state‑of‑the‑art facilities including 73 bedrooms, luxurious lounges and dining rooms, an on‑site café bar, a cinema and a professional hair and beauty salon.

Our chefs visit all residents when they move into their new home to understand their likes and dislikes, tailoring the menu cycle accordingly. We cater for modified and individual diets and provide support to seek advice and guidance when needed.

The standard of food we require is high‑end, beautifully presented, using fresh ingredients and locally sourced where available. Every meal time must be a truly enjoyable experience for our residents.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage a full kitchen team including a second chef and kitchen assistants.
  • Ensure all kitchen services are efficient and that required Health and Safety measures are in place and adhered to.
  • Monitor supplier performance and regularly review prices to ensure competitiveness, reporting findings to the General Manager.
  • Support cost‑effective stock control systems and minimize waste.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food storage areas, in accordance with food hygiene regulations.
  • Manage the implementation of safe working procedures in line with Health and Safety legislation.
  • Assist the General Manager in resolving any complaints regarding the catering service.
  • Actively participate in resident events, liaising with the General Manager and Activities Coordinator to meet nutrition, hydration, and social needs.

Person Specification

This role requires working within a team committed to providing an excellent food service to residents, with appropriate supervisory experience and relevant qualifications for the safe delivery of food and hygiene or catering services.

Key Attributes

  • Level 3 in Catering or equivalent QCF qualification.
  • Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
  • Team player, self‑motivated, proactive, flexible and adaptable.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload, and work under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing skills.
  • Reasonable access outside working hours in emergency situations.
