Working closely with curriculum staff and the Learning Support team, you will provide one-to-one and small group support, remove barriers to learning, and contribute to creating an inclusive environment where every learner can thrive.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting learners with SEN or additional needs, excellent communication skills, and a caring, patient approach. Applications are welcomed from candidates with backgrounds in education, care, youth work, support work, or similar sectors.
The Role
- Provide learning and accessibility support for learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Support students to access learning programmes, college services and enrichment activities
- Assist with personal care, mobility and wellbeing where required
- Help learners develop independence, study skills and self-advocacy
- Support the implementation and review of individual support plans and EHCP outcomes
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, carers and external agencies
- Ensure assistive technology and specialist equipment are available and operational
- Act as a College First Aider (training provided if required)
The Person
- Experience supporting learners with SEN, additional needs or vulnerable individuals
- Good standard of general education with Level 2 English and Maths (or willingness to achieve)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to build positive relationships with learners, colleagues and external stakeholders
- Team player with a proactive and flexible approach
- Comfortable supporting learners with personal care and mobility where required
- Committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
- First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain one
