Job Description:

Quality Control Technician – Fragrance Manufacturing | North Manchester | Full Training Provided

Salary circa £27,000 per annum plus benefits

Are you passionate about fragrances, quality, and getting things just right? Do you have a sharp sense of smell, great attention to detail, and a curiosity for how fragrances are made?

A leading fragrance manufacturer is looking for a Quality Control Technician to join their growing team in North Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working in a hands‑on lab environment and wants to build a long‑term career in the fragrance industry.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll play a key role in ensuring that every fragrance batch meets the highest standards before it reaches customers. Your day‑to‑day will include:

  • Odour comparison and evaluation of manufactured fragrances
  • Testing incoming raw materials to ensure consistency and quality
  • Analytical testing of fragrances and extracts
  • Recording results accurately in the internal ERP system
  • Working closely with Production, Planning, Creative, Warehouse and other teams
  • Making decisions on non‑conforming materials and supporting corrective actions
  • Gaining deep knowledge of fragrance raw materials and supporting other departments with guidance

This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a mix of sensory work, lab testing, and cross‑department collaboration.

What we’re looking for

You don’t need fragrance experience — full training is provided — but you do need:

  • A good sense of smell and a genuine interest in fragrances
  • A scientific degree or equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Previous lab experience in either odour testing, olfactory testing, wet chemistry testing or GC analysis.
  • Ability to work as part of a busy, supportive team
  • Good IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook; ERP experience a bonus)
  • Good understanding of lab health & safety
  • No nut allergies due to raw material exposure

If you’re proactive, curious, and love learning, you’ll thrive here.

What’s in it for you

  • Full on‑the‑job training
  • Supportive team environment
  • Exposure to both sensory and analytical testing
  • Opportunity to develop specialist fragrance knowledge
  • Clear processes, strong quality culture, and a business that invests in its people
