Overview

Job Title: Community Sports Team Leader

Terms: 25 hours per week, 52 weeks per year – Permanent

Salary: Devon NJC Grade C (SCP 5-7)

Role

Join Ivybridge Community College as a Community Sports Centre Team Leader and play a key role in delivering an outstanding sport and fitness experience. Reporting to the Community Sports Development Manager, you’ll act as Duty Team Leader when required, ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient running of the centre. Based on the gym floor, you’ll lead and deliver engaging fitness classes, support users, and create a welcoming, high-energy environment that encourages participation and progression.

Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline customer service, handling enquiries in person, by phone, and online with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Lead groups, explain techniques clearly, and adapt approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring sporting environment as an effective speaker and attentive listener.
  • Represent the centre positively and contribute to a safe and well-run facility.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead groups confidently.
  • Ability to explain methods clearly and tailor approaches to individual abilities and needs.
  • Strong customer service orientation and a commitment to safeguarding and welfare.
