Job Overview
Registered or soon‑to‑be registered pharmacy technician to work at Southampton General Hospital (SGH) and Royal South Hants Hospital (RSH). Progressive band 4 – 5 post; current band 5s are encouraged to apply. The role offers rotation between dispensaries at both sites, with training to complete the band 4/5 progressive framework and advance to band 5.
Responsibilities
- Dispense, label and check medications accurately in line with national standards.
- Assist with dispensing medication to patients and ensure correct record keeping.
- Participate in competency‑based training and collect evidence for progression to Band 5.
- Support pharmacy teams across SGH and RSH, rotating as required.
Qualifications
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Evidence of BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent underpinning knowledge such as NPA).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, team‑player mindset, and a desire to develop professionally.
Professional Development
Support to complete the band 4/5 progressive framework; once competence is signed off, the post will be upgraded to Band 5. Applicants who meet competencies at appointment may be offered a Band 5 contract.
