Ward Overview
Ward M1 is a medically optimised unit supporting older adults 74+. The ward focuses on safe care, dignity, deconditioning, and discharge planning. It is nurse-led and normally has 30 beds, expanding to 40 during winter pressures or Trust escalation. The unit also provides overnight care for 1 or 2 dermatology patients (any age), who are nursed in side‑rooms under full clinical responsibility from Dermatology.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide and support patients with personal and clinical care activities.
- Maintain accurate records of the patient’s care in the Electronic Patient Record (Cerner) in line with Trust, professional and departmental guidelines.
- Observe patients and report any changes to a Registered professional for review.
- Report any abnormal findings directly to the registered professional in charge or doctor.
- Undertake basic housekeeping, stock control, and administrative duties within the clinical environment.
- Perform required clinical skills as outlined in the job description.
Work Hours
Working days Mon-Fri, 7:30-15:30.
