Head of Conveyancing & Private Client Solicitor (Maternity Cover), 3+ PQE, Lincolnshire/Hybrid

The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Conveyancing & Private Client Solicitor to join a reputable legal practice in a senior leadership capacity. The role provides maternity cover for the Partner and Head of Department and offers the successful candidate the opportunity to take ownership of an established, successful team.
Key responsibilities:
- Serve as Head of Conveyancing for the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS), maintaining the firm’s accreditation and lender panel memberships while ensuring the highest standards of quality assurance and regulatory compliance across all conveyancing transactions.
- Manage a caseload predominantly focused on residential and commercial conveyancing matters, including sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity and commercial leases.
- Oversee and supervise private client work in wills, probate, trusts and estate planning performed by other team members.
- Contribute to business planning, procedural development and the continued delivery of commercially focused, client-centred legal services.
- Develop and maintain internal policies and procedures in accordance with SRA guidance and the Conveyancing Protocol.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor with a minimum of three years’ PQE and a current practising certificate recognised in England and Wales.
- Proven experience handling residential and commercial conveyancing matters and confidence managing complex transactions from instruction to completion.
- Previous supervisory or management experience, with the ability to mentor and support other fee earners in a busy legal department.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, able to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional client care standards.
- Proficiency in legal IT systems, including case-management and document-management software, and a thorough understanding of regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience maintaining CQS accreditation and managing lender panel relationships is highly advantageous.
The Package
This position is initially offered as a fixed-term contract for 9-12 months to cover maternity leave, with a negotiable start date and potential for a permanent opportunity.
Salary is £30,000 to £55,000, dependent upon experience, alongside a company pension scheme and free on-site parking. The role is based in Lincolnshire, with hybrid working arrangements available. Working hours are 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday, with one hour for lunch and additional time as required.
